1. Melt margarine over medium-high heat in a large saucepan; add rice and garlic; cook, stirring, until rice is lightly toasted, about 1-½  minutes.

2. Add curry powder to saucepan and cook, stirring, until fragrant.

3. Add 1 cup of water to saucepan, and cook according to rice package directions, adding more water if necessary.

4. Cook time will vary according to the variety of rice used. About 5 minutes before rice is done, stir in lentils (drained), ginger, cinnamon and salt.

5. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender, adding more water if mixture becomes too dry.

6. Serve in a bowl, and garnish with chopped green onions.

7. Steam asparagus for approximately 3-5 minutes until crisp-tender. Serve with dinner meal.
